Aluminium 5052 forgings are primarily made up of aluminium (about 95.7–97.7%), along with magnesium (2.2–2.8%) and trace amounts of chromium (0.15–0.35%). While this alloy isn’t heat-treatable, it boasts impressive corrosion resistance, especially in marine settings. It typically has a tensile strength ranging from 210–260 MPa and a yield strength of 130–195 MPa, with an elongation of up to 20%, depending on the temper. Aluminium 5052 also offers good fatigue strength and moderate machinability, making it perfect for applications where durability, lightweight properties, and corrosion resistance are essential.

Aluminum 5052 offers excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, good weldability, and formability. It's lightweight, durable, resistant to stress cracking, and performs well in marine and industrial environments, making it ideal for custom forgings.
Aluminum 5052 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and poor high-temperature strength. Alloys like 7075 or 2011 are better suited for such applications.
Aluminum 5052 has excellent workability, making it suitable for forging. Its low-to-medium strength, good corrosion resistance, and formability allow for ease in shaping, reducing the risk of cracking during forging.
Thanks to their outstanding corrosion resistance, strength, and formability, Aluminium 5052 forgings are widely utilized across various industries. In marine environments, they are perfect for boat hulls, deck hardware, and ship fittings. The automotive sector uses them for fuel tanks, panels, and structural components. In aerospace, they find their place in interior structures and brackets. Additionally, Aluminium 5052 is employed in food processing equipment, pressure vessels, and architectural features like railings and frames. Its ability to endure harsh conditions makes it a favored choice for outdoor applications, chemical processing plants, and any setting where corrosion resistance is crucial.
